1981

    During a several-month long research stay in Germany policy makers of the National Education Commission gather information on the German education system
    Initiation of an international scholarship program for Chinese academics and post graduates in cooperation with the National Education Commission

1980

    Commencement of the dialogue on education policy between the National Education Commission of China (predecessor of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China) and the Free State of Bavaria
    The National Education Commission of China, represented by Mr. Li Tao, Vice Head of the Office for Foreign Affairs and the Hanns Seidel Foundation, represented by Dr. Rainer Gepperth, Head of the Institute of International Contact and Cooperation, jointly sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of education
    Official establishment of the relations with the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries

1979

    The Bavarian Minister of State and Chairman of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, Dr. Fritz Pirkl, establishes ties with the People’s Republic of China through the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries

1993

    Establishment of the Co-ordination and Information Center (KOORD) in Beijing to further the dialogue on education policy and socio-political topics

1990

    Establishment of a Vocational and Teacher Training Center for professions in agriculture and engineering in Pingdu, Shandong province, including an outlet in rural Cuizhao
    Establishment of a Vocational Training Center for mechanical, electrical and automotive engineering in Weifang, Shandong province, in collaboration with the Weifang Diesel Engine Factory
    Development and implementation of a rural development and land consolidation program in the village community Nanzhanglou, Shandong province, in cooperation with the local village and county administration as well as the Bavarian State Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry
    Within the framework of the academic cooperation between the Free State of Bavaria and Shandong province the Hanns Seidel Foundation and Qingdao University enter into a partnership. In cooperation with the University of Bayreuth an Institute for German Studies offering a bachelor program in German as a Foreign Language is set up.

1989

    Establishment of a Vocational Training Center for electrical and mechanical engineering in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, in collaboration with the Yuejin Automobile Corporation

1988

    Establishment of a Teacher Training Center Zhejiang in Hangzhou, in collaboration with the Zhejiang Provincial Education Commission
    Establishment of the National Academy for Brewing Technology providing in Wuhan, Hubei province, in collaboration with the National Education Commission of China, the Ministry of Light Industry, the Hubei provincial government and the Bavarian State Ministry of Economy. It is the first of its kind to provide training and qualifications in brewing and malting in China.
    Establishment of Vocational Training Centers in Changchun, Jilin province (project is transferred to cooperation partner in 1993) and in Changsha, Hubei province (project is transferred to cooperation partner in 1996)

1985

    Establishment of a Vocational Training Center for electrical, mechanical and automotive engineering in Shanghai in cooperation with the Shanghai Instrumentation & Electronics Holding Group Company and the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission
    Establishment of a Vocational Training Center for mechanical and electrical engineering in Shiyan, Hubei province, in cooperation with the Dongfeng Motor Corporation

1984

    Establishment of a Management Training Center for corporate and administrative service managers in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province
    A Language Training Center is founded at Beijing University, offering courses in
“German as a Foreign Language” (project is transferred to cooperation partner in 1994)

1983

    The first cooperation agreement on the establishment of pilot projects in China is signed by Dr. Fritz Pirkl, Chairman of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, and Mr. Zhang Wensong, Vice Chairman of the National Education Commission
    Establishment of a Vocational Training Center for skilled workers and technicians in the field on structural engineering in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, and a teacher training center providing basic and advanced level qualification measures for primary and secondary school teachers in Shanghai

2010

    The Ministry of Education and the Hanns Seidel Foundation sign a cooperation agreement for “Vocational Education and Development in Western China” in Jiuquan, Gansu province, where a new project center is opened
    In Shanghai, the second Alumni Association of the Hanns Seidel Foundation for former scholarship holders is established

2009

    The Ministry of Education celebrates the 30th anniversary of Sino-German cooperation in the field of vocational education

2005

    In Beijing, the first Alumni Association for former scholarship holders of the Hanns Seidel Foundation in China is established
    The Hanns Seidel Foundation celebrates the 25 anniversary of its cooperation with China in Beijing

2004

    Establishment of the Chinese-German College of Applied Sciences in Shanghai in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and the Bavarian State Ministry for Science, Research and Arts
    Establishment of the National Education and Research Center for Land Consolidation and Rural Development in Qingzhou in collaboration with the Ministry of Land and Resources and the Hanns Seidel Foundation; the project’s main objective is the promotion of rural areas

2003

    First cooperation agreement with the All China Women’s Federation is signed, aiming at the advancement of women in rural areas in Western China

2002

    Establishment of the China Regional Project
    As part of the Regional Project, cooperation agreements are signed with the Education Commissions of the provinces Gansu, Yunnan and Guizhou as well as the Autonomous Region of Ningxia
    Signing of the first cooperation agreement with the School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China
    Commencement of cooperation with the Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Center of the Ministry of Land and Resources
    Establishment of a domestic scholarship program providing financial assistance to students in less developed regions, in collaboration with the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries
    Establishment of the German-Chinese University of Cooperative Education in Shiyan in collaboration with the Hubei Provincial Education Commission and the University of Cooperative Education Stuttgart

2000

    Establishment of relations with the All China Women’s Federation in Beijing
    China Regional Project: Success trough a network of expertise

1999

    Establishment of relations with the School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in Beijing

1998

    Establishment of a Vocational Teacher Training Center in Qingzhou, Shandong province; in 2001 the center is recognized as a “key school” by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China

since 1997

    Knowledge transfer to less developed regions in Western China
