Education

Education is a key factor of social development. Education enables participation and thus helps to promote equality of opportunity. Drawing on the profound experience gained from a vast array of past education projects, the Hanns Seidel Foundation works to counteract educational bottlenecks in rural areas by providing advisory support and seeking to give impetus to China’s education policy.

Training of knowledge disseminators is the core of our educational work. This includes teachers, trainers and key personnel at educational facilities, as well as decision makers at local departments of education. These people bring fresh perspectives and inspiration to the task of promoting reform in their respective fields.

In addition, we have implemented a wide range of vocational education and training measures throughout our network of project centers, all tailored to China’s specific education demands. Courses follow the German dual system of vocational education, combining technical knowledge with hands-on training.

This network of project centers is a foundation for knowledge transfer to underdeveloped regions in Western China. The different project centers’ know-how and expertise are used together with the network’s accumulated technical acumen, human resources, and infrastructure to support the development of the educational system in Western provinces. At the center of our efforts to transfer knowledge and strengthen local educational resources are the provinces of Gansu, Qinghai, and Yunnan, as well as the Xinjiang, Guizhou and Tibet autonomous regions.

The project centers support reform of Chinese education through:

  • Advising on educational policy at the local and regional level
  • Assisting in the adjustment and development of job profiles, as well curriculum development
  • Assisting in the provision and implementation of innovative educational concepts, in higher vocational education as well as in other fields
